Alarm Monitoring Services
Alarm monitoring connects the alarms in your building to people who will act on them. The right setup depends on what you need to protect against, whether that is a break-in, a fire or a plant failure, and on who will attend when an alarm goes off. This page sets out the options so you can go straight to the one you need.

How Alarm Monitoring Works
Each monitored system sends signals from its control panel to a receiving centre. An operator sees what has been triggered and follows the response plan agreed for your site: calling keyholders, sending a response officer or contacting the emergency services. The options below differ in what is being detected, which standards apply and who needs to respond.
- Intruder alarms: break-ins and attempted entry
- Fire alarms: fire, fault and pre-alarm signals
- Building systems: plant, temperature and utility alerts
- Keyholding: an officer to attend and secure the site
Not sure which you need? We will advise at a free site survey.
Intruder Alarm Monitoring
For businesses that want an alarm activation acted on, not just heard. Our intruder alarm page explains how signals are checked, what the police require before they respond (including a URN), what BS EN 50131 alarm grades mean and how keyholding fits in.
Fire Alarm Monitoring
For premises that are empty for part of the day or week, or where your fire risk assessment or insurer calls for it. Our fire alarm page covers BS 5839-1 system categories, responsible person duties under the Fire Safety Order, signalling and how to cut false alarms.
Beyond security
BMS Monitoring
Building management system monitoring watches heating, ventilation, plant and utilities, so a failed boiler or a leak is picked up before it causes damage. Read about BMS monitoring.
Keyholding and Alarm Response
Monitoring tells you something has happened, but someone still has to attend. With our keyholding and alarm response service, an SIA-licensed officer holds your keys securely, attends activations, checks the building and secures it before leaving, so your staff are not called out at night.

Which Option Do You Need?
Most businesses need a combination. See our CCTV monitoring services for how cameras and alarms work together. As a rough guide:
- Intruder alarm monitoring and keyholding if your premises are empty overnight or at weekends
- Fire alarm monitoring if nobody would hear the fire alarm at certain times, or your insurer asks for it
- BMS monitoring if plant failure, leaks or temperature changes would cause costly damage
- CCTV monitoring to check alarms on video and deter intruders before they get in
